Headspace: Interview with Director Andrew van den Houten

Posted in Udo Kier Fans, Articles about Udo Kier, Udo Film Reviews on October 18th, 2006

ComingSoon.net has an exclusive interview with Headspace Director Andrew van den Houten about the film, and he mentions Udo in it.

CS: You have a lot of newcomers in the movie, but you also have small parts for known genre actors like William Atherton, Olivia Hussey and Udo Kier. Did you get them involved using the normal method of sending the script to their agents?

Van den Houten: Well, Udo Kier I met through his lawyer who had seen one of our short films in L.A., and then through his manager, I got in touch with Olivia Hussey. Dee Wallace, I contacted her agent up directly and then they said, “You should consider Sean Young” because they were representing her at the time as well. William Atherton was friends with the writer of the movie, and Larry Fessenden had worked with Bill Miller, where Bill had shot second unit for one of his films. Mark Margolis, I actually cold-called the agent as well, and told him I was a huge fan of the role he played in “Pi” and told him there was a similar role in “Headspace” for him, and it all kind of fell in place.

Udo Kier

An old article from December 2002 by The Austin Chronicle………..

Former Andy Warhol associate and underground film personality Udo Kier, he of the recent BMW advertisements and the explosive performance as Blade’s vampiric overlord Dragonetti, proved once and for all last weekend that you can take the man out of trashy European softcore porn, but you can never take the Euro-trash out of the man.

Premiere for BloodRayne

Udo Kier

The film was produced and directed by Uwe Boll, and distributed by Romar Entertainment. Boll, taking the stage before the film began, ranted about all the greedy thieves in Hollywood, always a great way to endear yourself to the LA film industry. He dragged his stars – including Loken, Michael Madsen, Billy Zane and Udo Kier - up onstage………

IGN Interview from 2001

Posted in Articles about Udo Kier, Interviews with Udo Kier on January 2nd, 2006

It’s late in the afternoon by the time Udo Kier shows up to the office. It’s apparent that he was out on the town late the night before (his bleary eyes are hidden behind sunglasses, but he’s not fooling anybody). As he makes his way through the downstairs maze of cubicles he inquires as to whether or not there is a bathroom in the vicinity. As I point him in the right direction he takes a brief pause to run his hands up and down the wall, exclaiming that the architecture is simply amazing. He rubs the wall lovingly a few more times before disappearing into the bathroom.

This is an interview from 2001 but pretty indepth. You can read it all by clicking Here

SUICIDEGIRLS INTERVIEW with UDO KIER

Posted in Articles about Udo Kier, Interviews with Udo Kier on December 29th, 2005

Udo Kier

Udo Kier is as cool in person as he was in any of the Paul Morrissey films he starred in. Kier always has self deprecating smirk on his face and was making me roar with laughter as we talked on the New York City set of the horror movie Headspace. In this film Kier plays a priest who is counseling Alex who has visions from his long-suppressed memories of a vanished older brother, a father who abandoned both his sons and a mother who was viciously murdered.
